Get involved! NEA’s Read Across America Day is a nationwide reading celebration that takes place annually on March 2 -- Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Across the country, thousands of schools, libraries, and community centers participate by bringing together kids, teens, and books, and you can too! Incorporate these guides and activities to celebrate reading with young people.
For printables and activity ideas, visit:http://www.seussville.com/Edu…/educatorReadAcrossAmerica.php On March 2nd and 4th, Thumbs Up will partner with the Lowcountry Pi Beta Phi Alumni Sorority of Beaufort to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ Birthday on Read Across America Week. Volunteers will provide activities, snacks and, of course, donate books to every child.
The DIC Membership Committee will host a “Get Involved!” Expo on Tuesday, February 27, in the Carolina Ballroom from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. The Expo will be an opportunity for Dataw residents to visit booths for dozens of island clubs and local volunteer organizations to become informed about their activities and meet members in an informal atmosphere. As you know, there are many new resident members of Dataw; and this will be an opportunity for them to become well informed about the many choices available to them to volunteer their time and talents. It is also a chance for our long-term resident members to discover something new to join.
Participating organizations will have a table in the Carolina Ballroom where materials can be displayed and your representative(s) can be available to greet residents and answer questions. Obviously, there is no charge to clubs to participate, and there is no charge for residents to attend. Questions?
